BOOK JACKET SYNOPSIS

This, the third and final installment in the Where Friendship Lies series, takes a mystifying turn as

Tawny Coleman embarks on the beginning of her new and exciting career as a bestselling author!

The day she’s been waiting for has finally come to pass as her scintillating tell-all book, The Best

Revenge, is about to hit the shelves!

The Best Revenge is Tawny’s way of evening the scales of social injustice on behalf of the women

and girls who she feels have far too long been victimized by the male powers-that-be in the

entertainment industry.  Tawny’s targets are all very wealthy and mega-successful men: big name

rappers, platinum recording artists, well-known actors, prominent politicians, high-powered

businessmen and superstar sports figures.  Those named become highly angered when they find

the torrid details of all the scandalous things they’ve been doing revealed between its pages.  Their

hidden sins are secrets so powerful and haunting, they are certain to send all of their hard-earned

careers spiraling down the drain.  No wonder they would do anything to keep the well-kept skeletons

       in the closet.

The night of Tawny’s big debut ends in tragedy and everyone whose name was mentioned becomes

a suspect with clear motive and ample opportunity.  It will take an insider to follow the trails left behind

       as the secrets are unraveled.

Robyn Peterson, in town to visit her cousin, Ramona Shaw, who is about to give birth at any minute,

becomes involved in solving the mystery after she spots Cheyenne Lewis’s autographed copy of The

Best Revenge.  Robyn relies on her naturally inquisitive nature to begin to investigate the seedy life-

styles of the rich and famous in order to bring the person or persons responsible to justice.

(Excerpt from the Prologue)

There was an eerie chill to the wind in New York the night of Tawny Coleman’s book release party.  The full moon and clear sky made it just that much colder outside.  Walking in, the elite guests all sported leather, cashmere, fox or mink coats over their designer dresses and tailor-made tuxedos.

Bentley Continental GTs, Maybachs, Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Rolls Royce Phantoms, and other rolling play toys of the rich and famous had the valet parking attendants busier than ever before.

The W Hotel’s ballroom was jammed packed nearly to capacity.  Champagne flute-filled trays frequently whizzed by as servers who wore white and black tuxedos and plastered-on fake smiles worked the room serving the A-list crowd of invitees.

Celebrities, and people who looked like celebrities, gave each other fake air kisses and said things like, “Dahling” and “Exquisite.”  Men stood around making promises to other men to have their people call the other person’s people so they could get together on a project.  While the women stood around flaunting their cosmetic-surgeon-and-personal-trainer sculpted bodies in gowns that cost thousands of dollars, discussing what new diet fad they would start the next day.

Above anything else happening in the city on this particular night, this event was the place to be!  For what could quite possibly be the first time in world history, the contents of a book, more specifically one as salacious as this one, had been kept completely under wraps.  Each person that had something to do with its production – from the printers, binders, and editors to the graphic artists – had to sign their names at every step of the process so that if there was a leak, the list of suspects would be short and thus making it easy to know who to sue.  Placed under a confidentiality code so strict, people weren’t even able to talk to family, friends, or spouses about what was being said or whom it was being said about.

Expecting only the unexpected, those in attendance gladly paid the one-thousand dollar per person ticket price.  This offset some of the costs of the party and got each person their own autographed, first-run copy of the book.  Also, Tawny wanted to send three hundred dollars of each person’s fee to Oprah’s Academy for Girls as the first of many philanthropic contributions she had planned.  She wanted to eventually start her own foundation that would help young girls realize there were other options for them than being video hoes and strippers.

Rappers, star athletes, platinum-selling singers, a large sect of New York’s biggest business movers and shakers, and high-profile politicians from all over the country were in the building.

Tawny sat in amazement as she looked upon the array of guests from the ballroom’s security cameras.

She’d snuck inside the security office and introduced herself to the head guard who was holding post.  He was seated behind a huge bank of video screens hooked to cameras that captured images from all over the hotel.  Since starting her book, Tawny learned the gift of gab had many perks which allowed her to get her way more times than she could count.

Using her newly-healed, size 42D breasts as the lead for every word she spoke, she flirted with him skillfully.  She knew her gold-tone Dolce & Gabbana evening dress with the cleavage-enhancing front swoop was just revealing enough to have the forty-something-year old married guard eating out of her twenty-four-year old, freshly manicured hands.

He permitted her to sit at his desk and watch as each of the guests poured in one by one.  Tawny began to see a lot of the people she’d featured in the pages arrive on the scene.  What was funny to her was the fact none of them had absolutely any idea the impact the book would have on their lives past tonight.  She hoped they would all show up.

Outside, every news and entertainment reporter jockeyed for elbow-room and attention from the celebrities alongside the paparazzi.  All were eager to get pictures of the all-stars as they made their way past and down the red-carpeted entryway.  Posted right inside of the ballroom doors was Lance Bay, Tawny’s friend, and reporter for a tabloid TV show, Access Excess.  She couldn’t wait to view the show’s videotaped footage to see people’s facial expressions as he asked certain folks the pre-rehearsed questions she’d fed to him exclusively.

She knew once Lance made certain innuendos of what might be said about them between the covers of her new tell-all book, hearts would skip beats with fear and heads would roll.

The chill outside felt balmy compared to the air of dissention that washed over the event as she saw several unexpected people stroll in the door.  That no-good bastard, Johnathan Sweete, and his father, David, were the two men in question.  As far as Tawny was concerned, if she never laid eyes on them again, it’d be too soon.  But the Sweetes became the least of her worries when she saw three other potential problems enter the room.

Tawny was at first a little heated when she saw Duane Jackson, or DJ N-Sane as she’d once known him, saunter in with that model trick on his arm.  Then she quickly realized that neither that bitch, nor any other woman, would want to be with him once they found out what all he was really into.

She jumped up from the seat and thanked the security guard with a wink and a smile as she left…headed for the time of her life!
